More and more, we are realizing the difference of quality  between synthetic vitamins and the nourishment found in whole foods. This recipe shows you how to make your very own superfood blend at home. 100% nutritious and 100% from whole food. This is a fast and easy way to boost your family’s nutrient intake.

The Power of Whole Food Nutrition

What makes up this superfood blend? Real food! I learned long ago that not all supplements are created equal—many are synthetic chemicals created in a lab, some even derived from coal tar. After studying herbalism, this awareness deepened. My teacher, John R. Christopher, would say, “God is the only one that knows about Vitamin B 125,” referring to how fruits, vegetables, and herbs contain countless vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, antioxidants, and a plethora of compounds that we as humans have not yet discovered, studied, or named.

Synthetic isolates like ascorbic acid (the common form of vitamin C in most supplements) cannot be absorbed as effectively because they lack natural cofactors and may even interfere with nutrient balance. This understanding inspired me to develop a food-based vitamin C formula that is fully organic, natuwral, and highly assimilable.

The Vitamin C Matrix

In the 1700s, it was observed that those who ate citrus fruits did not develop scurvy, characterized by bleeding gums, extreme lethargy, poor wound healing, and other symptoms. Later, British scientist Walter Norman Haworth identified the chemical structure of ascorbic acid and enabled its mass production.

However, vitamin C in nature is never isolated—it exists in a matrix of supporting compounds such as quercetin, rutin, anthocyanins, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals. These components work together to enhance absorption, utilization, and overall effectiveness. While we’ve only recently identified some of these compounds, they have existed for millennia, synergizing naturally.

Why this matters: By making your own food-based vitamin C blend, you get the full spectrum of nutrients—just as nature intended—without relying on isolated or synthetic forms.
